Lots of stuff in this one
I meant to send a second one of these last week but then got busy due to being on set for work. Sorry if some of these are old news.
TCM Fest
The TCM Fest schedule dropped last week. It’s gonna be impossible for me to highlight that entire thing but I will try to show you some fun stuff, like the 4K restoration of Se7en. White Heat in 35mm. Rear Window in 35mm. Jailhouse Rock in 35mm. Annie Get Your Gun on nitrate. North by Northwest 4K restoration premiere. La Strada 4K restoration. Heavenly Bodies in 35mm (very rare). Lawrence of Arabia in 70mm. Check it out.
This is Not a Fiction
Another big festival coming up is this non-fiction one from American Cinematheque which also has a few gems if you like documentaries and the like. Crumb in 35mm. Harmony Korine’s Trash Humpers in 35mm. Harlan County USA in 35mm. Gimme Shelter in 35mm. Richard Pryor Live in Concert 4K restoration.
Brain Dead April schedule
Some fun stuff going on here. A bunch of 35mm Wong Kar-Wais like Grandmaster, Ashes of Time, and 2046. They’re also going to have Neverending Story, House, and Run Lola Run in 35mm.
Vista April schedule
It seems like the Vista is finally beefing up its programming, starting with a ton of Ghostbusters 35mm showings. Nothing on the April schedule was really tempting to me except maybe the 35mm Porky’s screening. They’ve also started their VHS schedule (for the second auditorium) which has some interesting obscurities on it including so much Bulldog Drummond.
Other cool stuff
4/20 erotic thriller 16mm marathon (12 hours!) at Brain Dead
Night of the Juggler in 35mm at Hammer
Kiwi Smith and Karen McCullah retrospective at American Cinematheque although all of these seem to just be DCPs
Bucket of Blood on 16mm at a few theaters all over - a classic!
Mario Bava on 16mm at a few theaters
